O Jagiellońskim Uniwersytecie Trzeciego Wieku

Jagielloński Uniwersytet Trzeciego Wieku (JUTW) jest jednostką pozawydziałową Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Kontynuuje tradycje międzyuczelnianego studium powołanego w 1982 roku decyzją Senatów Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego i ówczesnej Akademii Medycznej.

Student-senior wybiera w każdym roku jeden główny kierunek nauki, a dodatkowo – zgodnie ze swoimi zainteresowaniami – zajęcia fakultatywne, warsztaty, kursy językowe, ćwiczenia fizyczne i inne.

The Jagellonian University of the Third Age

The Jagiellonian University of the Third Age is a non-faculty unit of the Jagiellonian University. It continues the traditions of the inter-university program established in 1982 by the Senates of the Jagiellonian University and the Medical Academy. Its primary goals are to promote knowledge among older adults and to help prevent the effects of aging. Originally known as the Krakow U3A, it was one of the first educational institutions in the country to offer programs specifically designed for seniors. The Jagiellonian University of the Third Age implements a unique educational program. Each year, senior students choose a major field of study and, in addition—depending on their interests—can participate in optional courses, workshops, language classes, physical activities, and other educational opportunities. The academic offer is systematically updated to align with students’ expectations, organizational capacities, and external circumstances. During the pandemic, JUTW conducted remote classes, which were so well received that the curriculum now includes both traditional in-person lectures and online learning opportunities.
